Up in the hills of Wuppertal

Last week I visited Wuppertal, looking for traces of Pina, the motion picture by Wim Wenders. One of the highlights of my trip was a visit to Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden. Not only because of the beautiful scenery, but also because of the lucky encounter with one of my favorite contemporary artists: Jan Fabre.

After a final climb leaving the entrance building of the Skulpturenpark, I got rewarded with this view of the main exhibition hall:

My heart skipped a beat when I discovered that the pieces from the exhibition Chalcosoma – small bronzes 2006-2012 by Jan Fabre were already present in the hall.

The square glass house really is the perfect setting for exhibitions such as this:

The exhibition hall isn’t the only treat the park has to offer: Villa Waldfrieden and the art by Tony Cragg and fellow artists make it worth the climb

You can find more information about the park in one of my first blog posts and more pictures on my Flickr photostream.
